FOMS field trip exhibit.

Kraissl Hall is the meeting place and lecture hall for the Franklin - Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society Inc. and doubles as a multi purpose room. It is used as a lunch room and staging area for students and scout groups. Micro groups, demonstrations, classes, slide shows and science videos are held there. There are four large (7 foot long x 4 feet high) wall cases that include an exhibit of the evolution of fluorescent lamps from iron spark technology to present day electric powered lamps. Shown above is an exhibit of significant finds from field collecting trips to local mines and quarries. A third exhibit called "from mine to metal" shows mining and processing of silver curated by Casey Phillips. Finally, we have a collection of bottles excavated from the Trotter property by Mr. John Kolic. Many of these bottles were manufactured locally, around the turn of the century. This room is not part of the regular tour. Be sure to see it during your visit!
